Top 7 Most Powerful Marvel Comics Villains in the MCU

With Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe now in full swing, it’s a perfect time to recap some of the biggest and baddest of all the villains in the MCU. Some of these bad guys were so powerful it took a whole army of superheroes to stop them! Read on below for the top seven most powerful villains in the MCU.

7 - Loki

While not always a bad guy, the God of Mischief was certainly powerful and caused lots of trouble especially throughout the early MCU films. Loki’s Frost Giant ancestry gave him all sorts of superhuman abilities, and this combined with his mastery of Asgardian magic made him a formidable figure for sure.

6 - Ultron

Ultron is a particularly interesting MCU villain, as the concern of malicious artificial intelligence could be very real in our future. With a superhuman mind and the ability to control any technology by sending his consciousness through computers (including Iron Man suits), Ultron could’ve caused more damage than nearly any other MCU bad guy.

5 - Hela

Hela, the sister of Thor and Loki, could’ve brought an end to the all of Asgard if it wasn’t for Thor and the “Revengers.” The Asgardian goddess of death possessed superhuman strength, speed, and stamina above even Thor’s, and as the goddess of death and ruler of Hel she even had the ability to bring her allies back from the dead.

4 - Surtur

Right along with Hela is the fire demon Surtur, who Loki resurrected with the Eternal Flame, leading to the eventual destruction of Asgard. This was a prime example of Loki not always being a bad guy, as the call to pit Hela and Surtur against each other kept Hela from taking over Asgard and causing who knows how much damage to the galaxy. As an enormous being standing over 1,000 feet in height, and one made of fire at that, Surtur was definitely one of the most powerful villains in MCU history.

3 - Ego

Ego, The Living Planet and father of Peter Quill, was one of the most powerful beings the Guardians of the Galaxy and the MCU as a whole every took on. As the physical embodiment of an actual planet, its no surprise this guy was insanely powerful, with the ability to manipulate light and matter to do his bidding.

2 - Dormammu

Although Dormammu didn’t quite get his due as a bad guy in the MCU, he had the potential to be more catastrophic than even Thanos, and you could put in a good argument that he should take the top spot. Dormammu is an immortal sorcerer with immeasurable power and complete control over the Dark Dimension, so it’s hard to imagine many other villains standing up to him.

1 - Thanos (with the Infinity Gauntlet)

Arguably the most well-known villain of the whole MCU is Thanos, who, with the help of the Infinity Gauntlet, had the power to literally snap anyone out of existence. Even before he had the Infinity Stones, The Mad Titan was a seriously powerful dude! His insane physical strength and regenerative powers, not to mention an army of nasty creatures and villains like Ebony Maw and Corvus Glaive, made him the biggest and baddest of all the MCU villains.

Who do you think are the most powerful Marvel villains of all time? Did we get it right?
